• 21.30 Break
• 21.45 Discussion Panel
The theme of the evening is Emigration: Cultural identity contributing to success. The theme is in line with the topic of the movie.
We have chosen this movie because it is a classical movie about pursuing success as an Armenian emigrant, moreover this movie is unknown to the majority of our members. The movie triggers you to think about questions such as: How far would you go for success? Should you change your cultural identity to fit in the society you live in? We believe that the movie forms a fun and easy entrance to topics which affect second generation Armenian immigrants the pursuit of success.
About the movie
A washed-up classical pianist, Charlie Kohler/Edouard Saroyan (Charles Aznavour), bottoms out after his wife’s suicide — stroking the keys in a Parisian dive bar. The waitress, Lena (Marie Dubois), is falling in love with Charlie, who it turns out is not who he says he is. When his brothers get in trouble with gangsters, Charlie inadvertently gets dragged into the chaos and is forced to rejoin the family he once fled.
