Earlier this week, United States Vice President JD Vance landed in Armenia, becoming the first person in this role to visit the country. Vance's arrival comes six months after Armenia signed a US-brokered deal with Azerbaijan, aiming to end more than 40 years of conflict over the Karabakh region.

During the visit, the United States and Armenia agreed to collaborate on a deal that would allow up to $5 billion in initial US exports to Armenia, plus an additional $4 billion in longer-term fuel and maintenance contracts.

In Yerevan, Vance and and wife Usha Vance visited the Tsitsernakaberd Armenian Genocide Memorial. They participated in a ceremony laying a wreath of carnations, chrysanthemums, and roses at the site, which honors the 1.5 million who lost their lives in the Armenian Genocide.
